The official genus name Noroviruses which is the group of viruses previously described as “Norwalk-like viruses” are a group of related, single-stranded RNA, non-enveloped viruses. Noroviruses cause self-limiting explosive acute gastroenteritis that last for 24-48hours in humans. The most common symptoms of acute gastroenteritis are diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
