East African or Rhodesian African trypanosomiasis, is a disease caused by the flagellate protozoan Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense which is transmitted to human hosts by bites of infected tsetse flies Glossina morsitans. East African trypanosomiasis is a zoonotic infection with animal vectors.
