Cerebral contusion due to birth injury

Focal region of necrosis and haemorrhage, involving the cerebral cortex and subcortical white matter. A cerebral contusion can be associated with multiple microhemorrhages. The most common areas are at the tips of the frontal and temporal lobes. Attention, emotional and memory problems are sequale from a cerebral contusion due to birth injury. Contusions are associated with edema which causes increased intracranial pressure.
